Andrew Glover

Andrew Glover, now resident in the UK, was born in New Zealand and studied drama, dance and singing at the Unitec School of Performing Arts.  He made his operatic debut in Il barbiere di Siviglia with New Zealand Opera with whom he has since sung many rolesAs a recipient of the Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist Awarded in New Zealand he continued his studies at the Australian Opera Studio, graduating with honours.

Andrew Glover has a busy concert diary giving recitals, performing with ensembles and in oratorio.  He has sung with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and the Perth Orchestra.  His concert repertoire includes Messiah, Elijah, Haydn Creation, Mozart Requiem and Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle.  He performed music by Sondheim in concert for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Andrew Glover’s roles include Dancairo Carmen, Bardolfo FalstaffEin junger Diener Elektra, The Cock and The Fox Renard (Stravinsky), Bastien Bastien and Bastienne (Mozart), Grimoaldo Rodelinda, Ramiro La cenerentola, Monostatos Die Zauberflöte,  Ismaele and Abdallo Nabucco, Monsieur Triquet Eugene Onegin, Ferrando Cosi fan tutte, Tanzmeister and Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos, and Frantz, Cochenille, Andres, Pitichinaccio Les Contes d’Hoffmann.  

With English Touring Opera he appeared as Gherardo Gianni Schicchi, and Tinca Il Tabarro.  At Opera Holland Park he performed Remendado Carmen and was invited back the following season to sing  Don Curzio/Don Basilio Le nozze di Figaro.  Most recently he sang the role of Beppe Pagliacci with Opera New Zealand

Andrew Glover’s future roles include Monsieur Triquet with English Touring Opera and a return to Opera New Zealand as Vašek The Bartered Bride.

Among Andrew Glover’s acting credits are Lysander, Demetrius, Oberon and Starveling Midsummer Night’s Dream,  Banquo Macbeth, Orlando As you Like It Teiresias in Sophocles Oedipus Rex and various roles in Under Milkwood.  He has also appeared in music theatre.
