FRANCISCO JAVIER BORDA
Francisco Javier Borda, who is resident in the UK, was born in Pamplona, Spain and speaks English, French, German and Italian. He also has a working knowledge of Russian. He completed the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama after studying at Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna and History of Art at the University of Navarra. He is a Samling Scholar and has undertaken Masterclasses with, among others, Graham Johnson, Malcolm Martineau, Dalton Baldwin, Paul Farrington, Paul Plishka, Robin Bowman and Della Jones as well as participating in the Martina Arroyo Foundation Program in New York. He is currently working with Janice Chapman.

He has performed the roles of Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Leporello and Masetto Don Giovanni, Don Inigo Gomez L’heure Espagno, Collatinus The Rape of Lucretia, Angelotti Tosca.

Francisco Javier Borda has also performed at various concert venues including the Aula Universität in Salzburg with the Salzburger Kammerphilharmonie and the Auditorio Nacional (Messiah and Creation) in Mexico City with the New World Orchestra.

Other operatic repertoire includes roles such as Sarastro Die Zauberflöte, Osmin Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Basilio Il barbiere di Siviglia, Sparafucile Rigoletto, and Gremin Eugene Onegin.

Most recently Francisco Javier Borda appeared in the role of Tiferne Eliogabalo (Cavalli) for Grange Park Opera under Christian Curnyn. He returns to Grange Park this season to perform The Cook in Love for Three Oranges. Other future engagements include Zuniga Carmen for Scottish Opera on tour.
