AMANDA FORSYTHE
Amanda Forsythe has been praised by Opera News for her “pure tone”, “wonderful agility and silvery top notes”. She has been a winner of the George London Foundation Awards and was sponsored by them in her New York recital début. She has also received prizes from the Liederkranz Foundation and the prestigious Walter W. Naumburg Foundation.

Amanda Forsythe made her European opera début in the role of Corinna Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy, which led to an immediate invitation to make her début at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Dalinda Ariodante and to a further invitation from the Rossini Opera Festival to perform the role of Rosalia Equivoco stravagante and Bellini duets in recital with Joyce di Donato. She repeated the role of Dalinda Ariodante at the Bavarian State Opera, Munich.

Amanda Forsythe made her onstage début with Boston Early Music Festival as Aglaure in their production of Lully’s Psyché. She has also performed Pergolesi Marian Vespers and Pallas in Eccles’ The Judgment of Paris with BEMF and recorded Minerve and La Grande Pretresse in Lully’s Thésée on the German CPO label, a recording which was nominated for the 2008 Grammy Awards.

Amanda Forsythe received high critical acclaim for her début with Opera Unlimited as The Angel in the North American première of Peter Eötvös’ opera, Angels in America, a production which was revived at the Ravinia Festival.

Amanda Forsythe’s roles with Boston Baroque, have included Bastienne in Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne, Serpina in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, Ninfa/Proserpina in Monteverdi’s Orfeo and Amore in Il Ritorno d’Ulisse, Oberto in Handel’s Alcina, Lieschen in Bach’s Coffee Cantataand Wedding Cantata; and Purcell’s The Fairy Queen and Vivaldi’s Juditha trimphans. Other recent débuts include Young Margarita in Osvaldo Golijov’s Ainadamar with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cendrillon in Viardot’s Cendrillon with the Caramoor Festival, Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate/Vivaldi’s Nulla in Mundo pax sincera with the Omaha Symphony, Carmina Burana with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor with The Handel and Haydn Society and Handel’s Israel in Egypt with Emmanuel Music.

Amanda Forsythe has sung concerts with the Handel and Haydn Society, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Chamber Music Society, the Omaha Symphony, Apollo’s Fire, and the Charlotte Symphony. She has sung world premières by John Austin and Elena Ruher, and recorded songs by the composer Ken Sullivan.

In addition to her return to the Rossini Opera Festival where she appeared as of Rosalia Equivoco stravagante and performed Bellini duets in the ‘Malibran’recital with Joyce di Donato Amanda Forsythe’s other recent engagements have included Iris Semele with Opera Boston, Venus Venus and Adonis, and Drusilla L’incoronazione di Poppea for Boston Early Music Festival, Ainadamar with Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and Rossini Arias at Teatro la Fenice in Venice. Most recently she sang L’allegro, il perseroso, ed il moderato with the Händel Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic under Kenneth Montgomery and Barbarina Le nozze di Figaro at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees, Paris.

Amanda Forsythe’s most recent recordings include Lully’s Psyché with Boston Early Music Festival and Handel’s Messiah with Apollo’s Fire. She will record once again with the Boston Early Music Festival this coming autumn Venus Venus and Adonis (John Blow)

Amanda Forsythe recently sang Amenaide in Rossini’s Tancredi for Opera Boston, and Alexander’s Feast with the Ulster Orchestra under Kenneth Montgomery.

Among future operatic appearances Amanda Forsythe will sing Nanetta Falstaff for Opéra d’Angers-Nantes and the roles of Galatea Acis and Galatea, and Niobe in Niobe, regina di Tebe (Steffani) and the recording of Venus Venus and Adonis for Boston Early Music Festival.

Amanda Forsythe will make her début at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2010/11 where her roles will include Manto Niobe, regina di Tebe under Thomas Hengelbrock and Nanetta Falstaff under Daniele Gatti.
